The IPEX 9887005 is a Schedule 80 CPVC close nipple designed to connect two female threaded (FPT) fittings in pressurized piping systems. Manufactured from Xirtec CPVC material, it handles a maximum service temperature of 200 degrees F under continuous pressure, with occasional exposure tolerance up to 212 degrees F. The material carries a design stress rating of 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F, making it suitable for demanding industrial and commercial plumbing installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting where a short, fully threaded connection between two female-threaded ports is required.
This close nipple is used in residential and commercial hot and cold water distribution systems, chemical handling lines, and industrial process piping where CPVC is specified. Its Schedule 80 wall thickness provides additional pressure capacity compared to Schedule 40 fittings. The 2 inches nominal size and FPT threading on both ends make it a direct-install component in standard CPVC piping layouts.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for Schedule 80 CPVC piping systems using 2 inches nominal threaded connections.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Depressurize and drain the affected piping section before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Use CPVC-compatible thread sealant or tape rated for the service conditions — do not use petroleum-based compounds on CPVC threads. Hand-tighten first, then apply only enough wrench torque to achieve a leak-free seal without stressing the fitting.
