The IPEX 9861218 is a Schedule 80 CPVC threaded nipple designed to connect two female threaded (FPT) fittings in industrial and commercial piping systems. Manufactured from Xirtec CPVC material, this nipple measures 1.5 inches in diameter and 6 inches in length. It is rated for a maximum service temperature of 200 degrees F under pressure, with the capacity to handle occasional exposure to boiling water at 212 degrees F. The CPVC material carries a design stress rating of 2,000 psi at 73 degrees F, making it well suited for demanding pressure applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in both hot and cold water systems as well as chemical handling lines.
This nipple is used in residential and commercial plumbing, industrial process piping, and mechanical systems where corrosion resistance and elevated temperature performance are required. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides additional pressure-bearing capacity compared to Schedule 40, making it a common choice in higher-pressure system segments. Its male NPT threads on both ends allow direct engagement with any standard female-threaded fitting or valve of the same size.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 CPVC piping systems using standard NPT threaded connections in 1.5-inch line sizes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the IPC. Shut off and depressurize the line before threading in the nipple. Use CPVC-compatible thread sealant or tape rated for use with thermoplastic fittings — do not use petroleum-based compounds, which can degrade CPVC. Do not overtighten; hand-tight plus one to two turns with a strap wrench is typical for threaded CPVC connections.
