The IPEX 36778 is a 4-inch PVC Schedule 80 socket tee fitting designed for industrial and commercial piping systems. Schedule 80 PVC provides greater wall thickness and pressure rating compared to Schedule 40, making it appropriate for demanding process and utility applications. This fitting connects via solvent-cement socket joints and is manufactured to dimensional standards that ensure consistent fit with Schedule 80 pipe and fittings from a single-manufacturer system. The 36778 is rated for a maximum service temperature of 140 degrees F in pressure service and up to 180 degrees F for intermittent gravity flow. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters install this fitting in chemical process lines, industrial fluid handling, and general-purpose water distribution.
This socket tee is suited for residential, commercial, and industrial piping installations where chemical resistance and long service life are priorities. It performs well in systems handling most acids, alcohols, alkalis, salt solutions, and halogens. The fitting is listed with the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and CSA International for use with potable water, broadening its application to water service and treatment systems. The interior bore remains smooth across virtually all service conditions, resisting rust, pitting, scale, and corrosion over the life of the installation.
Designed for use with 4-inch PVC Schedule 80 pipe and fittings in pressure and gravity flow piping systems. Part of the IPEX Xirtec PVC system, engineered to meet consistent dimensional and performance standards across the full pipe, valves, and fittings product line.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified industrial pipefitters. Before cutting into any existing line, isolate and depressurize the system and drain the piping. Use appropriate PVC Schedule 80 solvent cement and primer as specified by the cement manufacturer and applicable plumbing codes. Avoid applying mechanical stress to the joint before the cement has fully cured per the manufacturer cure time guidance.
