The IPEX 36638 is a PVC Schedule 80 spigot x socket reducing bushing sized at 8 inches by 6 inches. It is designed for use in industrial and commercial piping systems where a reduction from an 8-inch line to a 6-inch connection is required. PVC Schedule 80 construction provides the wall thickness and pressure rating demanded by chemical process, industrial fluid handling, and water treatment applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting where system integrity, chemical resistance, and long service life are priorities over metallic alternatives.
This bushing fits into industrial piping systems handling acids, alcohols, alkalis, salt solutions, and halogens, as well as potable water systems. The spigot end inserts into a socket fitting of the same pipe schedule, and the socket end accepts a Schedule 80 pipe or fitting. It is suited for above-ground and below-ground installations in chemical processing plants, water treatment facilities, and industrial manufacturing environments where corrosion resistance is critical.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for PVC Schedule 80 industrial and commercial piping systems requiring an 8-inch spigot to 6-inch socket reducing bushing connection.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Depressurize and drain the piping system completely before cutting or joining any section. Use a PVC Schedule 80 rated solvent cement and primer appropriate for the pipe schedule and service fluid — do not substitute Schedule 40 cement on Schedule 80 fittings. Allow full cure time per the cement manufacturer instructions before returning the system to service.
