The IPEX 36218 is a 3-inch PVC Schedule 80 Socket x Female Adapter engineered for industrial and commercial piping systems where chemical resistance and long-term durability are required. Built to Schedule 80 dimensional standards, this adapter transitions a socket-style PVC connection to a female-threaded port, allowing integration with threaded pipe or fittings in the same run. The smooth interior bore resists rust, pitting, scale, and corrosion throughout service life. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters working in chemical processing, water treatment, and industrial fluid handling applications regularly specify Schedule 80 PVC for its pressure-rated wall thickness and resistance to a broad range of aggressive media.
This adapter is suited for use in residential and industrial plumbing systems handling potable water, chemical process lines, and industrial fluid transfer applications. It performs reliably in systems carrying most acids, alcohols, alkalis, salt solutions, and halogens. The socket inlet bonds to PVC pipe using standard solvent-cement technique, while the female-threaded end accepts standard male-threaded fittings or valves. It is part of the IPEX Xirtec PVC system, a complete pipe, valves, and fittings line produced and quality-controlled by a single manufacturer.
Designed as an OEM-style Schedule 80 PVC fitting within the IPEX Xirtec PVC system, compatible with 3-inch Schedule 80 PVC pipe and standard female-threaded male fittings or valves in industrial and commercial piping applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line fully before cutting into an existing system. The socket end requires proper PVC primer and solvent cement per the fitting and cement manufacturer directions. Verify thread engagement on the female port is complete and wrench-tight before restoring system pressure.
