The IPEX 36096 is a 2.5-inch PVC Schedule 80 socket-by-socket coupling designed for industrial and commercial piping systems. It connects two pipe ends of equal diameter using a solvent-weld socket connection on each side. Schedule 80 PVC provides greater wall thickness and pressure rating than Schedule 40, making it suitable for demanding chemical process, industrial, and potable water applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting as part of pressure-rated PVC piping assemblies. The PVC construction resists rust, pitting, scaling, and corrosion, keeping interior walls smooth throughout the service life of the installation.
This coupling is used in residential and commercial plumbing, chemical process piping, and industrial fluid handling where Schedule 80 PVC is specified. It is suited for systems conveying acids, alcohols, salts, and halogens, as well as potable water service. The socket-by-socket configuration allows in-line joining of two pipe sections in a straight run. It is part of the IPEX Xirtec PVC system, which is engineered and manufactured to consistent dimensional and performance standards across pipe, valves, and fittings from a single manufacturer.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit component for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems requiring a 2.5-inch socket-by-socket coupling in industrial, chemical process, and potable water applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. Depressurize and drain the system completely before cutting or joining any pipe section. Use only PVC-rated solvent cement and primer appropriate for Schedule 80 fittings, and allow full cure time before restoring system pressure. Do not use heat-fusion methods on PVC fittings.
