The IPEX 36091 is a 3/4 inch PVC Schedule 80 socket x socket coupling designed for use in industrial and commercial piping systems where higher pressure ratings and chemical resistance are required compared to Schedule 40 fittings. Built from rigid PVC, this coupling joins two sections of pipe using solvent-weld socket connections on both ends. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides increased strength and durability, making it a reliable choice for chemical process lines, water treatment applications, and industrial fluid handling systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters typically install this fitting where corrosion resistance and long service life are priorities.
This coupling is suited for use in industrial piping systems handling acids, alcohols, salts, and halogens, as well as potable water distribution lines. Its smooth interior walls resist rust, pitting, scale, and corrosion, maintaining consistent flow characteristics over extended service life. The fitting performs well in chemical processing facilities, manufacturing plants, and water treatment operations where metal fittings are prone to corrosion or contamination. It is an appropriate low-maintenance replacement for metal system components in compatible pressure and temperature ranges.
Designed for use with 3/4 inch Schedule 80 PVC pipe systems using solvent-weld socket connections, suitable for potable water and industrial fluid handling applications as listed with NSF and CSA International.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. Depressurize and drain the system completely before cutting into any existing line. Use an appropriate PVC primer and solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 fittings, following the cement manufacturer's cure time requirements before returning the line to service. Avoid applying excessive force or torque to the fitting during assembly, as PVC socket fittings rely on chemical welding rather than mechanical clamping.
