The IPEX 36090 is a 1/2 inch PVC Schedule 80 socket x socket coupling designed for industrial and commercial piping systems where elevated pressure ratings and chemical resistance are required. Manufactured from rigid PVC, this coupling connects two same-diameter pipe runs using solvent-cement socket joints. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides greater pressure capacity compared to Schedule 40, making it appropriate for chemical processing lines, industrial fluid handling, and other demanding service environments. Plumbers and pipefitters working in industrial facilities are the primary installers. The smooth interior bore resists rust, scale, pitting, and corrosion throughout its service life, reducing friction loss and maintenance intervals.
This coupling is suited for use in chemical process piping, industrial water lines, and potable water distribution systems. Its PVC construction offers strong resistance to a wide range of acids, alcohols, salts, and halogens, making it a practical choice for chemical feed lines and treatment plant applications. It is also appropriate for general-purpose industrial plumbing where a low-maintenance, corrosion-free alternative to metal pipe fittings is needed. Residential and light commercial potable water installations are also within scope where Schedule 80 fittings are specified.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/2 inch PVC Schedule 80 piping systems using solvent-cement socket connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC or IAPMO standards. Shut off and depressurize the affected piping segment completely before cutting or joining. Use only PVC-rated primer and solvent cement appropriate for Schedule 80 fittings, and allow full cure time before restoring pressure. Do not apply open flame or excessive mechanical force to PVC fittings during installation.
