The IPEX 257221 is a 1-1/2 inch flame-retardant polypropylene (FRPP) 45-degree elbow fitting designed for chemical and acid waste drainage systems. Part of the IPEX Enfield electrofusion-joint system, this fitting uses a fusion x spigot connection to create secure, leak-resistant joints in corrosive waste piping networks. The FRPP material carries an operating temperature range of -10 degrees F to 212 degrees F, allowing the system to withstand boiling water flushes. Heavy-gauge resistance wire is molded directly into the socket, ensuring controlled fusion and repeatable joint integrity. Licensed plumbers and mechanical contractors install this fitting in non-return air plenum chemical waste applications where glass or PVC systems fall short.
The 257221 elbow is suited for residential and commercial acid waste drain systems, including laboratory drainage, industrial chemical waste lines, and school or healthcare facility plumbing where corrosive drain streams are present. The Enfield system is designed for non-return air plenum installations. The electrofusion connection method allows multiple joints to be prepared simultaneously, reducing overall labor time. Fittings in this system are matched to Enfield pipe to ensure dimensional consistency and long-term system reliability.
Designed for use within the IPEX Enfield electrofusion-joint system for FRPP corrosive waste drainage piping. Fusion x spigot end configuration connects to matching Enfield system pipe and fittings. Compliant with ASTM F1412 and NSF 14 listed systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber familiar with electrofusion polypropylene piping systems. The Microprocessor-controlled Enfusion unit must be used to achieve proper joint fusion — do not attempt heat-fusion with non-matched equipment. Shut off and isolate the drain system before cutting into existing waste lines. Follow local plumbing code requirements, including applicable IPC provisions for chemical waste systems, when integrating this fitting into a drainage network.
