The IO HVAC CONTROLS RM-1608 is a rectangular zone damper designed for use in forced-air HVAC zoning systems. It ships with a Belimo actuator that operates on a 3-wire control circuit and cycles open or closed in approximately 35 seconds. Zone dampers like the RM-1608 are installed inside ductwork to regulate airflow to individual zones, allowing independent temperature control throughout a structure. Licensed HVAC technicians install this component as part of a multi-zone control system paired with a zone control board and individual thermostats. The 16-inch by 8-inch rectangular blade fits standard rectangular duct of the same nominal size.
The RM-1608 is suited for residential and light commercial forced-air zoning applications where rectangular ductwork is present. It is commonly installed in new construction or retrofit zoning projects where a single air handler serves multiple independently controlled zones. The 3-wire Belimo actuator accepts a standard low-voltage control signal, making it compatible with most zone control boards that support spring-return or powered-open/powered-close actuator wiring configurations. The 35-second stroke time is appropriate for typical residential and light commercial zone control applications.
Designed as an OEM-style rectangular zone damper for forced-air zoning systems using standard low-voltage 3-wire actuator control. Consult your zone control board documentation to confirm actuator wiring compatibility before installation.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician following applicable mechanical codes. Shut down the air handler and de-energize all low-voltage control wiring before installing or servicing the damper. The actuator connects to the zone control board via a 3-wire low-voltage circuit; verify polarity and control signal type against the control board manufacturer wiring diagram before energizing. Do not force the damper blade manually while the actuator is powered.
