The IO HVAC CONTROLS MD-2014-BM is a rectangular 2-position zone damper designed for ducted HVAC zoning systems. Measuring 20 inches wide by 14 inches tall, this damper uses a Belimo 3-wire actuator mounted on the bottom of the unit to control airflow between two fixed positions: fully open and fully closed. The Belimo actuator provides reliable, consistent actuation with industry-standard wiring compatibility. At 10 pounds, the unit is substantial enough for commercial-grade ductwork while remaining manageable for a single technician to handle during installation. Licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors are the primary installers of this type of zone damper.
This damper is suited for residential and light commercial forced-air zoning applications where independent temperature control is required across multiple zones. It is installed inline within a rectangular duct run and is typically controlled by a zone control board or a dedicated thermostat-driven relay panel. The bottom-mount actuator configuration is useful in installations where side or top access is limited by adjacent ductwork, structural members, or ceiling conditions. The 2-position design keeps wiring and controls simple compared to modulating damper systems.
Designed as an OEM-style zone damper for rectangular ducted forced-air HVAC zoning systems requiring a 20-inch by 14-inch inline damper with a Belimo 3-wire actuator interface.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified sheet metal contractor. Shut down the air handling unit and de-energize the zone control panel before installing or wiring the actuator. Secure the damper into the duct run using sheet metal screws and seal seams per local mechanical code requirements. Connect the 3-wire actuator leads to the zone control board according to the control board manufacturer's wiring diagram - do not apply power to the actuator before verifying control voltage compatibility.
