The IO HVAC CONTROLS MD-1806 is an 18 inches x 6 inches rectangular 2-position zone damper equipped with a Belimo 3-wire actuator. Zone dampers control airflow to individual zones in a ducted HVAC system, opening and closing on command from a zone controller or thermostat. The MD-1806 uses a 2-position actuator, meaning the damper blade moves fully open or fully closed rather than modulating to a partial position. The Belimo 3-wire actuator provides reliable, industry-standard operation with spring-return capability. Licensed HVAC technicians install this type of component during zone system commissioning or as a replacement in an existing zoned forced-air system.
This damper is suited for residential and light commercial zoning applications where rectangular duct runs require individual zone control. It mounts inline in a rectangular duct and connects to a low-voltage zone control panel. Typical installations include multi-zone forced-air heating and cooling systems where separate thermostats independently control airflow to each zone. The 18 inches x 6 inches duct opening size must match the existing ductwork dimensions at the installation point.
Designed as an OEM-style zone damper for rectangular duct zoning systems requiring an 18 inches x 6 inches opening with a Belimo 3-wire 2-position actuator.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician familiar with low-voltage control wiring and zoned forced-air systems. Shut down the air handler and de-energize the zone control panel before installing or replacing the damper. The damper must be mounted with proper airflow direction as indicated on the unit, and low-voltage control wiring should be run in accordance with NEC guidelines and the zone controller manufacturer's wiring diagram. Do not operate the actuator manually with power applied.
