The IO HVAC CONTROLS HD-2020-PO is a rectangular two-position zone damper designed for powered-open operation in forced-air HVAC zoning systems. Measuring 20 inches wide by 20 inches tall with a 6-inch depth, this damper controls airflow to individual zones by moving between fully open and fully closed positions. The powered-open design means the actuator drives the blade to the open position and relies on spring return or power loss to close, which is a common fail-safe configuration in residential and light commercial zoning applications. At 12 pounds, the unit is robust enough for permanent duct installation by a licensed HVAC technician.
This damper is suited for residential and light commercial forced-air zoning installations where a 20-inch by 20-inch rectangular duct section is present. It fits into multi-zone systems controlled by a central zone control board, allowing individual rooms or areas to receive conditioned air independently. The powered-open configuration is commonly specified in applications where maintaining airflow during a power interruption is the preferred fail-safe behavior. Installation typically occurs in rectangular supply or return trunk lines as part of a new zoning system build-out or a retrofit to an existing forced-air system.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation zone damper for rectangular forced-air duct systems requiring a 20-inch by 20-inch two-position powered-open damper.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician familiar with zoning systems and low-voltage control wiring. Shut down the air handler and de-energize all control circuits before installing or servicing the damper. The damper must be mounted with correct airflow direction as indicated on the unit body, and control wiring should be run in accordance with the NEC and the zone controller manufacturer's wiring diagram. Do not force the blade manually while the actuator is energized.
