The INTERTAPE POLYMER GROUP 5517 is a self-amalgamating electrical tape designed for permanent, void-free insulation on irregular surfaces and splices. Unlike standard vinyl tapes, this tape fuses to itself on contact, creating a seamless, homogeneous layer with no adhesive required. It will not dry out, crack, or unwind over time. The result is complete electrical protection that holds up in demanding service conditions. At 3/4 inch wide and 22 feet long per roll, it gives electricians enough length to handle multiple splices or a substantial wrap on a single repair.
This tape is suited for electrical insulation work in residential, commercial, and light industrial applications. It is particularly useful when wrapping irregular connector shapes, cable splices, or terminal ends where a standard tape would leave voids or lift at edges. It conforms fully to any profile it is wrapped around, making it a reliable choice for conduit work, junction protection, and wire bundling in environments where moisture ingress is a concern.
Designed as a general-purpose self-amalgamating electrical tape suitable for wire splices, cable insulation, and connector wrapping in standard electrical installations.
This tape is installed by licensed electricians or qualified electrical workers following NEC guidelines. De-energize and lock out all circuits before beginning any splice or insulation work. Stretch the tape slightly as you wrap to activate the self-amalgamating bond, and overlap each pass by at least half the tape width to ensure a continuous seal. Do not apply to energized conductors.
