The INTERNAL TOOL 74-0115 is a solid carbide Woodruff keyseat cutter designed for milling keyseats and slots in shafts and mating components. Built from micrograin solid carbide with a bright uncoated finish, this cutter delivers consistent performance in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium. It features a straight tooth configuration with 6 teeth, a 0.25-inch cutter diameter, and a 0.125-inch cutting width. The shank connection type makes it compatible with standard tool holders used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals specify this cutter for precision keyseat work where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical.
This keyseat cutter is suited for both production and maintenance machining applications where Woodruff keyseats are required on shafts, spindles, and similar components. Its solid carbide micrograin construction handles a broad range of workpiece materials, including difficult-to-machine superalloys and titanium. The 4-inch overall length provides adequate reach for typical shaft keyseat applications, and the 0.25-inch shank diameter fits standard collets and end mill holders. This tool is sold individually and is appropriate for use in job shops, manufacturing facilities, and maintenance machine shops.
Designed as a direct-fit keyseat cutter for use with standard 0.25-inch collets and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Compatible with primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys and titanium (material codes P, M, K, N, S).
This cutter is installed by machinists using standard collet or end mill holder tooling rated for the shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify runout after installation, as excessive runout accelerates carbide chipping. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate based on workpiece material and cutting width.
