The INTERNAL TOOL 69-4070 is a solid carbide tapered end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and high-strength materials. It features a 15-degree taper angle per side, a 1/4-inch small end diameter, and a 3-flute helical configuration that provides a balance of chip evacuation and cutting edge strength. The 0.467-inch length of cut suits shallow-to-moderate pocket and contour work. The bright, uncoated finish means it is ready for use as-supplied with no coating maintenance concerns. This tool is selected by machining professionals for applications where tight taper angles and controlled material removal are required.
The 69-4070 is suited for CNC milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super alloys, and titanium. The right-hand flute direction and micrograin carbide grade make it appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes on harder workpieces. Typical applications include tapered wall profiles, mold and die work, and contoured part features that require a consistent taper angle. The 1/2-inch shank diameter fits standard ER and end mill holders used on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement end mill for use in standard 1/2-inch end mill holders and collet chucks on CNC vertical or horizontal machining centers. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super alloys, and titanium.
Installation of end mills should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and the tool changer is in a safe state before mounting or removing the tool. Secure the 1/2-inch shank firmly in the holder to the recommended pull-out length without over-projecting, and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. This tool is not center-cutting and should not be used for direct plunge entry into solid material.
