The INTERNAL TOOL 22-1475 is a solid carbide, interior retaining ring grooving tool designed for cutting precise internal grooves in bored holes. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the edge retention and dimensional accuracy needed for retaining ring seat applications. The tool cuts in a right-hand direction and accepts a minimum hole diameter of 0.375 inches with a groove width of 0.089 inches. With an overall length of 2.5 inches and a 0.375-inch shank diameter, it fits standard toolholders used on lathes and boring setups. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians rely on this geometry for consistent snap ring groove placement in production and maintenance work.
This grooving tool is suited for interior groove applications in small-bore workpieces, with a minimum hole diameter of 0.375 inches and a maximum hole depth of 1.0 inch. The 1.0-inch projection allows the cutting edge to reach the required groove depth within that bore range. Typical applications include retaining ring grooves in hydraulic cylinders, pump housings, bearing bores, and machined valve bodies. The 1.5-inch shank length provides secure clamping engagement in the toolholder without excessive overhang.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use interior grooving tool for lathes and CNC turning centers accepting a 0.375-inch round shank toolholder.
Installation and use of this grooving tool should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with turning or boring operations. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is securely clamped before indexing or changing the tool. Follow the machine manufacturer and toolholder manufacturer specifications for shank clamping torque and overhang limits. Inspect the cutting edge for chips or wear before each use, as carbide tools can fail without visible warning if impacted or run at incorrect feeds and speeds.
