The INTERNAL TOOL 20-1215 is a solid carbide interior grooving tool engineered for cutting internal grooves in small-diameter bores. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers consistent edge retention and dimensional accuracy in precision machining applications. The tool features a full radius profile and right-hand cutting direction, making it suited for CNC lathes and manual turning centers where controlled internal groove geometry is required. With a minimum hole diameter of 0.125 inches and an overall length of 3.0 inches, it reaches into tight bore entries while maintaining rigidity. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this tool in standard shank holders for interior grooving passes on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
This grooving tool is designed for interior applications where a small bore entry is involved. It is commonly used in precision component manufacturing, hydraulic valve bodies, pneumatic fittings, and similar workpieces requiring a clean internal groove or undercut relief. The 1/16-inch shank diameter and 1.375-inch shank length suit micro-bore toolholders found in Swiss-style and small-part turning setups. The 0.625-inch maximum hole depth and 0.625-inch projection define the effective reach for groove placement within the bore.
Designed as a direct-fit interior grooving tool for 1/16-inch shank micro-bore toolholders used in small-part CNC turning and Swiss-style lathe setups where a minimum bore diameter of 0.125 inches is required.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist. Secure the shank fully in a compatible toolholder and confirm proper projection before taking a grooving pass. Power down and lock out the spindle before tool changes. Follow shop-standard feeds and speeds for solid carbide tooling in the workpiece material being cut; do not exceed the 0.625-inch maximum hole depth to avoid tool deflection or breakage.
