The INTERNAL TOOL 10-1270 is a solid carbide boring bar designed for internal diameter machining in tight-bore applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed for precise, repeatable cuts in a wide range of workpiece materials. The bar features a 0.18-inch minimum bore diameter, a 1-inch maximum bore depth, and a 2.5-inch overall length. The right-hand cutting direction and 1/4-inch shank diameter make it compatible with standard boring setups on CNC lathes, manual lathes, and machining centers. Machinists and toolroom technicians rely on this type of bar for finishing and semi-finishing small-bore features where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical.
This boring bar is suited for production and job-shop environments where small internal diameters must be held to tight tolerances. Its universal primary workpiece material rating means it can be applied across steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys without requiring a dedicated grade change. The 4-degree relief angle and 1.5-degree bar end angle support clean chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces at the bore wall. It is appropriate for both roughing passes at conservative feed rates and light finishing cuts in precision bore work.
Designed for use in standard 1/4-inch boring bar holders on CNC lathes, manual lathes, and machining centers requiring a right-hand internal boring tool with a minimum bore diameter of 0.18 inches.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the 1/4-inch shank in a clean, properly sized boring bar holder and confirm the tool is clamped with adequate stick-out for the intended bore depth without exceeding the 1-inch maximum bore depth specification. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the boring bar. Inspect the carbide tip for chipping or wear before each use, as micrograin carbide is hard but brittle under interrupted cuts or improper setup.
