The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 6342028 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. Carrying the ANSI insert code CCMT32.51 and ISO code CCMT09T304, this insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation and positive rake geometry. It is PVD-coated with AlTiN and TiN layers under the TT3020 grade designation, which provides high wear resistance with moderate toughness suited for demanding finishing work. The FG chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip flow during finishing passes. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working on tight-tolerance components will recognize this insert as a standard finishing tool.
This insert is engineered primarily for finishing operations on stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium - workpiece material code S. It fits standard CCMT-style toolholders that accept a screw-held insert with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle. Typical use cases include aerospace, medical, and energy component machining where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. The positive side clearance geometry reduces cutting forces on difficult-to-machine materials. The insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in CCMT-style screw-lock toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch inscribed circle insert with ANSI size code 32.51 and ISO size code 09T304. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamp style before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and all power locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification - do not overtighten. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before seating the new insert. Index to the second cutting edge only when the first edge shows visible wear or surface finish degradation.
