The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 6320546 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the SFC series standard with an ANSI and ISO code of SFC3, this insert carries a TT9080 grade designation and features a PVD-applied TiAlN and Titanium Nitride coating for extended tool life under demanding cutting conditions. The cutting width measures 0.118 inches with a corner radius of 0.008 inches, and the relief angle is set at 7 degrees. The self-clamping holding method and single-end configuration make it a straightforward drop-in for compatible SFC-style toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments rely on this insert for consistent, repeatable groove geometry.
This insert is rated for primary use on steel, stainless steel, super-alloys, and titanium workpiece materials. It is also suitable for secondary applications involving cast iron and hard materials. The neutral lead angle and neutral hand orientation allow it to be applied in straight-in grooving and parting cuts. The C-style chipbreaker geometry promotes chip control in continuous cuts, making it well suited for both light-duty grooving and interrupted parting on medium to high-production turning lines. It is a multi-use insert compatible with both grooving and parting tool systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for SFC series grooving and parting toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO code SFC3 with an insert seat size of 3.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked out before changing inserts. Use the appropriate insert seating and clamping hardware specified for the SFC3 toolholder to ensure proper contact and torque. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping mechanism for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures during all tooling changes.
