The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 6309159 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCGT series, grade TT4430, featuring a PVD-applied AlTiCrN coating for high-performance external and internal turning operations. The insert carries an 80-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code C) with a positive rake geometry and a neutral hand orientation, making it well-suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. The 0.016 inch corner radius and a maximum depth of cut of 0.138 inches are optimized for tight-tolerance surface finishes. The SH chip breaker geometry controls chip evacuation effectively in difficult-to-machine materials. This insert is installed by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians on lathes and turning centers.
The 6309159 insert is designed for primary use on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, S. The CCGT geometry with clearance code C and tolerance code G provides the dimensional consistency required for precision turning applications. The screw-holding method secures the insert in compatible CCGT-style toolholders. This insert is appropriate for both production shop environments and job-shop applications where a single insert grade needs to cover a range of challenging alloy materials. ISO designation for this insert is CCGT09T304M-SH-F TT4430.
Designed for use in CCGT-series screw-clamp toolholders. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes P, M, S). ISO insert designation CCGT09T304M-SH-F TT4430 may be used for cross-reference with compatible toolholder systems.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or changing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver specified for the toolholder manufacturer's clamping screw to avoid insert cracking or improper seating. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before installing a new insert.
