The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 6236574 is a CPMT-style diamond-shaped turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC and manual lathes. Built from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer CVD TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN stack, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal protection in demanding steel-cutting applications. It carries an 80-degree included angle with an 11-degree relief angle and a 0.031-inch corner radius. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, insert length is 0.382 inches, and insert thickness is 0.156 inches. The manufacturer grade is TT8125B with a PC chip breaker geometry. CNC machinists and toolroom operators install this insert in compatible screw-lock toolholders for external turning operations.
This insert is intended for primary use on steel workpieces, consistent with its P-grade classification. The positive rake geometry and PC chip breaker help manage chip evacuation during continuous and semi-interrupted turning cuts. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to both right-hand and left-hand toolholder configurations. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.118 inches. It fits screw-type insert clamping systems and is suited for production turning environments where consistent tool life and surface finish are priorities.
Designed for use in screw-lock CPMT-style toolholders. ANSI code CPMT32.52PCTT8125B; ISO code CPMT09T308PC TT8125B. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P classification). Confirm toolholder pocket geometry matches CPMT insert size code 32.52 before installation.
Turning inserts of this type are installed and indexed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating to avoid premature edge damage.
