The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 6236513 is a CCMT-style turning insert designed for precision metal-turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Built from solid carbide with a multilayer CVD coating - TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN - this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability when cutting steel. It features an 80-degree diamond insert shape, a 0.031-inch corner radius, and a neutral hand orientation. The PC chip breaker geometry promotes positive rake cutting action, helping control chip flow and reduce cutting forces in continuous and light interrupted cuts. Rated for steel as its primary workpiece material, this insert fits screw-lock toolholders and carries a 1/4-inch inscribed circle.
This insert is suited for external and internal turning, facing, and profiling operations on steel workpieces in production and job-shop environments. The CCMT form factor is a widely used ISO-standard insert style found in both light finishing and moderate roughing applications. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.079 inches and an insert thickness of 0.094 inches, it is positioned for light-to-medium material removal where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are priorities. It is installed by machinists and CNC programmers operating turning centers and engine lathes.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for CCMT 21.52 (ISO: CCMT060208) style screw-lock turning toolholders. ISO code CCMT060208PC TT8125B. Compatible with toolholders specifying a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, 0.094-inch insert thickness, and 0.110-inch hole diameter in the CCMT pocket style. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P).
Installation is performed by machinists using the appropriate CCMT screw-lock toolholder and a torx or hex key to seat the insert clamp screw. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before seating the insert to ensure proper support and avoid premature edge failure. Do not overtighten the clamp screw - refer to the toolholder manufacturer's torque specification for the correct fastener.
