The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 6213014 is a VNMG-style indexable carbide turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on steel workpieces. Built to a negative rake geometry with a 0-degree relief angle and a 35-degree included angle (diamond shape), it delivers stable cutting action under moderate to heavy chip loads. The TT8125B grade substrate receives a CVD-applied multilayer coating of Al2O3, TiCN, and Titanium Nitride, providing thermal resistance and wear protection during continuous and interrupted steel cuts. With four available cutting edges per insert, this insert is a cost-effective choice for production turning on CNC lathes and turning centers. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install and index this insert during routine tooling maintenance.
This insert is suited for turning steel in both roughing and semi-finishing applications. The PC chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation at moderate feed rates and depths of cut up to 0.118 inches. The 0.031-inch corner radius balances edge strength with surface finish quality, making it appropriate for general-purpose steel turning where consistent dimensional control is required. It fits standard VNMG toolholders using a clamp-style holding method and is identified by ISO code VNMG160408PC TT8125B.
Designed for use in standard VNMG clamp-style toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert. ISO code VNMG160408PC TT8125B. Insert size code 332. Primary application is steel turning (material code P).
Installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench or clamp screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not overtighten the clamp screw, as this can fracture the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new cutting edge.
