The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 6212342 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCMT series, designed for single-point turning operations on steel workpieces. It carries a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN under the manufacturer grade designation TT8115B, which delivers wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle (0.375 inches), a 0.457-inch length, and a 0.016-inch corner radius. It is held in place by a screw-clamp toolholder and delivers two usable cutting edges per insert. CNC lathe operators and machining centers are the primary users.
This insert is suited for external and internal turning, facing, and light profiling operations on steel. The positive rake geometry combined with the PC chip breaker promotes controlled chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces during continuous or semi-interrupted cuts. The CVD multilayer coating makes it particularly effective at moderate-to-high cutting speeds where heat generation is a concern. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units and is a direct fit for DCMT-compatible screw-clamp toolholders using the standard DCMT 32.51 insert size code.
Designed for use with screw-clamp DCMT-style toolholders accepting a 32.51 insert size code (3/8-inch inscribed circle). ISO code reference is DCMT11T304PC TT8115B. Confirm toolholder pocket geometry and clamp type before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench for the clamping screw to avoid cracking the carbide substrate - do not overtighten by hand estimation. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
