The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 6186055 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal in CNC and manual turning operations. Manufactured to WNMG433KT TT7025 geometry, it features a trigon (80-degree included angle) insert shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 0.047-inch corner radius. The insert carries a multi-layer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, optimizing wear resistance and thermal stability during cutting. With 6 usable cutting edges and an inscribed circle of 0.5 inches, this insert delivers consistent performance and extended tool life in demanding turning applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert into compatible WNMG-style toolholders.
This insert is engineered primarily for turning cast iron workpieces, making it a fit for production shops, job shops, and maintenance machining environments where ferrous materials are regularly machined. The KT chip breaker geometry controls chip flow effectively at moderate depths of cut up to 0.217 inches, reducing chip interference and protecting both the workpiece surface and the cutting edge. It is suited for both roughing and semi-finishing passes on cast iron components in high-volume turning centers and manual lathes equipped with WNMG-style insert pockets.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for WNMG-style turning toolholders accepting size 433 inserts with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle. ISO equivalent designation is WNMG080412KT TT7025.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down or disable the machine spindle and engage the e-stop before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and secure with the clamp fastener to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure - do not overtighten or undertighten the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket for wear, debris, or damage before seating a new insert to ensure proper support and edge integrity.
