The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 6177219 is a solid carbide milling insert in the MNHU series, grade IN2530, designed for indexable milling operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating that supports thermal resistance and edge wear in demanding cut conditions. It has a parallelogram shape with a negative rake angle, four cutting edges, and a sharp cutting edge style. At 0.362 inches thick and 0.551 inches inscribed circle diameter, this is a right-hand, double-sided insert held in place by screw clamping. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in production environments are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for indexable face mills and shoulder mills running on CNC machining centers in both roughing and semi-finishing passes across steel and difficult-to-machine alloy workpieces. It carries an M chip breaker geometry, which supports chip control across a range of feed rates. Compatible cutter series listed by the manufacturer include 1TJ1J and TJ5J. The insert size code is 140708, and ANSI and ISO designations are both MNHU140708R-M IN2530. Applications span general production machining of carbon steel, austenitic stainless, and nickel-base or titanium superalloys.
Compatible with cutter series 1TJ1J and TJ5J as specified by the manufacturer. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standard designations MNHU140708R-M IN2530. Designed for right-hand screw-clamped indexable milling tool bodies accepting MNHU 14 mm series inserts.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be powered down and locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key torque driver as specified by the cutter body manufacturer when seating the clamping screw - do not over-tighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and seat surfaces can crack under excess load. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
