The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 6001114 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TSJ series, designed for grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to grade TT9080 with a PVD-applied AlTiN and TiN dual coating, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The neutral cutting direction suits straight-in grooving and cutoff work. At 0.008 inches corner radius and 0.118 inches cutting width, it produces precise, consistent grooves in demanding materials. The J-style chipbreaker promotes controlled chip evacuation, reducing the risk of chip packing in deep-groove applications. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers of this consumable tooling item.
This insert is rated for primary use on steel, stainless steel, and super-alloys including titanium, making it a strong choice for aerospace, energy, and precision medical component machining. Secondary workpiece materials include cast iron and hard materials. The TSJ3 seat size and ANSI/ISO code TSJ3 allow straightforward identification when matching to compatible toolholders. The single-end geometry means the insert is indexed and discarded rather than flipped, ensuring repeatable cutting geometry on every fresh edge.
Designed for use in TSJ-series insert seats accepting size 3 inserts with an ANSI/ISO designation of TSJ3. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clamping method before installation.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamp to ensure accurate edge positioning. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or damage before seating a fresh insert, as debris under the insert can cause edge breakage or poor surface finish.
