Product Description

The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5869105 is a solid carbide milling insert in a pentagon shape, designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. Manufactured to grade IN2505 with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert carries a negative rake geometry and a corner-rounded cutting edge style, with a 0.03 inch corner radius and two cutting edges per insert. It is sized to PNCU0805 standards with an inscribed circle of 0.45 inches and a thickness of 0.19 inches. Machinists and CNC tooling technicians install this insert into compatible milling cutter bodies.

This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material grades P, M, K, S, and H. It is a right-hand insert and is held in place by screw clamping. Compatible cutter series include 4W2A and DM5G milling bodies. The W chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation across these material types. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose milling in production and job-shop environments.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide micrograin substrate with PVD TiAlN and TiN dual-layer coating for extended tool life
  • Pentagon insert shape (PNCU series) with 108-degree included angle and negative rake for strength at the cutting edge
  • Corner-rounded cutting edge with 0.03 inch corner radius reduces edge chipping and improves surface finish
  • Double-sided insert design provides two usable cutting edges per insert
  • Compatible with ISO and ANSI standardized tooling systems (ISO Code: PNCU0805GNTR-W IN2505, ANSI Code: PNCU0805GNTR-001 J IN2505)
  • Broad material application coverage across steel, stainless, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials

Compatibility

Designed for use with Ingersoll 4W2A and DM5G milling cutter series bodies that accept PNCU0805 style inserts with screw-clamp holding. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and de-energize the machine tool completely before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key driver specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the clamping screw - do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and runout.
