The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5820586 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for precision metal removal in milling applications on non-ferrous materials. It carries the ISO designation SHET110508R-P in grade IN15K, a fine and medium grain uncoated carbide grade suited for high-speed cutting without the thermal burden of coated tooling. The insert measures 0.433 inches in inscribed circle diameter and 0.197 inches thick, with a 1/32-inch corner radius for controlled edge engagement. Four cutting edges are available on this single-sided, neutral-hand insert, making it a cost-effective option for production milling environments. A positive rake geometry and rounded corner edge style reduce cutting forces on workpieces.
This insert is intended for milling operations on non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, copper, and brass alloys in both production and job-shop settings. It is compatible with the 15U1G and 5H6G cutter series from Ingersoll. The SHET series geometry and P chip breaker style are optimized for consistent chip control at higher feed rates typical in non-ferrous machining. Machinists and CNC operators in manufacturing, aerospace component work, and general metalworking will find this insert suitable for face, shoulder, and pocket milling where a positive cutting action and sharp uncoated edge are preferred over coated alternatives.
Compatible with Ingersoll cutter series 15U1G and 5H6G. Conforms to ANSI code SHET110508FR-P S IN15K and ISO code SHET110508R-P IN15K. Designed as a direct-fit replacement or production-run insert for those cutter bodies.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians following standard indexable insert procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to release and reseat the clamping screw, ensuring the insert seats fully and flush in the pocket before re-torquing. Inspect the cutter body pocket and screw threads for wear or debris before installing a new insert.
