The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5811344 is a square-shaped solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation SDMT080305N IN2030. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards, this single-sided, neutral-hand insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering elevated heat and wear resistance for demanding milling operations. The insert measures 0.315 inches in inscribed circle diameter and 0.138 inches thick, with a corner radius of 0.020 inches and a positive rake geometry. Four cutting edges are available per insert, maximizing tool life and reducing cost per edge. It is designed for use in Ingersoll cutter bodies accepting the SDMT series and is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium.
This insert is intended for face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose milling applications in production and job-shop environments. The IN2030 grade is a coarse-grain solid carbide substrate with a PVD TiAlN coating optimized for cutting P, M, K, and S workpiece material groups. It performs in both wet and dry cutting conditions and is appropriate for use on CNC machining centers and milling machines across light-to-medium chip-load ranges. Machinists and tooling technicians working in aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking industries are the primary users of this insert.
Compatible with Ingersoll cutter series 15_1E, 15J1E, 15N1E, 15T1E, and 5J1E. Designed for use with SDMT-series cutter bodies accepting insert size code 080305 with screw-type insert holding. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key driver as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to secure the clamping screw - do not overtighten, as this can damage the insert seat or screw threads. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper indexing and runout.
