The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5804908 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling applications. It carries the ISO designation AOMT180516R IN1030 and the ANSI code APEB64R02 IN1030. The insert features a TiCN PVD coating applied over a coarse-grain carbide substrate, giving it the wear resistance needed when cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle and a positive rake geometry promotes clean chip formation and reduces cutting forces. Two cutting edges per insert are provided, and the right-hand configuration suits standard climb-milling setups. Installation is by screw-lock clamping.
This insert is intended for use in CNC milling operations across industrial and production environments. Compatible cutter bodies include the INGERSOLL series 12J1E, 22J3E, 23J6G, 2J1E, and 4W2A. Primary workpiece material codes are P (steel), M (stainless steel), and S (superalloys and titanium), making this insert suitable for aerospace, energy, and general machining applications where difficult-to-machine alloys are common. Screw-lock retention ensures repeatable insert indexing and consistent edge presentation at the workpiece.
Designed for use with INGERSOLL cutter body series 12J1E, 22J3E, 23J6G, 2J1E, and 4W2A. Conforms to ISO code AOMT180516R IN1030 and ANSI code APEB64R02 IN1030, allowing fitment in any cutter body designed to accept those standards.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician using the appropriate torx or hex key for the cutter body screw. Power down and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against all pockets walls before torquing the clamping screw to the cutter body manufacturer's specified value. Inspect the pocket and screw thread for chips or damage before seating a new insert to ensure repeatable runout.
