The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5802531 is a solid carbide milling insert in the APEB series, manufactured to ISO code APKT160416R and ANSI code APEB53R02 IN1030. It carries a TiCN coating applied via PVD process, which improves wear resistance and thermal performance in demanding cutting applications. The insert has a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry, and a sharp cutting edge style. Two cutting edges are available per insert. Thickness is 0.2000 inches and inscribed circle diameter is 0.3750 inches. This is a right-hand, single-sided insert held in place by a screw-type clamping method. It is designed for use by machinists and tooling technicians in production and job-shop milling environments.
This insert is intended for face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose milling operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The IN1030 coarse-grain carbide grade with TiCN PVD coating is well suited to applications where toughness and edge integrity under moderate to high cutting loads are required. It is compatible with Ingersoll cutter bodies in the following series: 12J1B, 12N1B, 22J3B, 22J5B, 23J6G, and 2J1B. The common chip breaker geometry supports reliable chip control across the listed workpiece materials.
Designed for use with Ingersoll APEB-series cutter bodies, specifically verified compatible with cutter series 12J1B, 12N1B, 22J3B, 22J5B, 23J6G, and 2J1B. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards for APEB53R02 and APKT160416R geometry classifications.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the spindle locked and the machine powered down before any insert change. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw - do not overtighten, as this can damage the insert seat or the carbide insert body. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before loading a new insert. Dispose of worn inserts in accordance with facility waste protocols for carbide tooling.
