The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5523198 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG series, designed for precision metal turning on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the manufacturer grade TT5080 with a dual PVD coating of AlTiN and TiN, making it well-suited for high-heat, abrasion-intensive cutting environments. The insert measures 0.61 inches in length with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and a 0.016 inch corner radius. Its 55-degree diamond shape, negative rake geometry, and EA chip breaker work together to control chip flow and maintain edge stability during aggressive material removal. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible toolholders as a standard cutting-edge replacement.
This insert is built for primary use on stainless steel, super-alloys, and titanium workpieces, material codes M and S. It fits into toolholding systems that accept DNMG-style inserts with a clamp holding method. The neutral hand orientation makes it usable in a range of turning setups without handedness restrictions. Typical applications include roughing and semi-finishing passes on difficult-to-machine alloys in aerospace, oil and gas, and industrial manufacturing environments where insert toughness and coating adhesion are critical.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for DNMG-series toolholders accepting a clamp-style insert with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and 55-degree diamond geometry. ANSI code DNMG431EATT5080; ISO code DNMG150404EA TT5080.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing cutting inserts. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and secure the clamp to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure before resuming operation. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for debris or damage each time the insert is indexed to maintain dimensional accuracy and operator safety.
