The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5523176 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG series, designed for precision metal-turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the TT5080 manufacturer grade, this insert features a PVD-applied AlTiN and TiN dual coating that supports high-heat and high-speed cutting environments. The diamond-shaped insert (55-degree included angle) provides a neutral hand orientation and delivers four usable cutting edges per insert, improving cost-per-edge value. It measures 0.61 inches in length with a 0.50-inch inscribed circle and a 0.031-inch corner radius. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists are the primary installers and users of this insert.
This insert is engineered for primary use on stainless steel, super-alloys, and titanium workpiece materials (ISO material codes M and S). The EA chip breaker geometry, negative rake angle, and clamp-style insert holding method make it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where controlled chip formation and surface quality are critical. It fits standard DNMG-style toolholders with a DNMG432 pocket configuration. The ISO designation is DNMG150408EA TT5080 and the ANSI code is DNMG432EATT5080, which simplifies cross-referencing with toolholder documentation.
Designed for use in DNMG432-style toolholders with clamp-style insert retention. Compatible pocket specifications follow the ANSI code DNMG432EATT5080 and ISO code DNMG150408EA TT5080. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert seat dimensions before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamp to the manufacturer-specified holding method; do not overtighten the clamp screw. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and edge positioning.
