The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5523125 is a CCMT-style indexable carbide turning insert engineered for finishing operations on stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It carries the ANSI insert code CCMT21.51 and ISO code CCMT060204FA TT5080. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake and positive side clearance, a 7-degree relief angle, and a 0.0160-inch corner radius. The dual AlTiN and TiN PVD coating in manufacturer grade TT5080 provides high wear resistance while maintaining toughness at moderate cutting demands. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in compatible screw-lock toolholders for precision material removal.
This insert is suited for finish turning applications where tight tolerances and fine surface finish are required on difficult-to-machine materials including stainless steel (ISO material group M), superalloys, and titanium (ISO material group S). The FA chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts with light to moderate depths of cut up to 0.0590 inches. It is a neutral-hand insert, making it adaptable to a range of toolholder orientations in CNC turning centers and manual lathes running these material classes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit turning insert for CCMT21.51 screw-lock toolholders compatible with 1/4-inch inscribed circle inserts. Primary workpiece material codes M and S cover stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium applications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver or hex key specified for the toolholder to seat the insert without cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and alignment.
