The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5523099 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG series, designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries an AlTiN and TiN dual coating applied via PVD process, providing thermal resistance and wear protection at the cutting edge. It features a 55-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 0.016-inch corner radius, and an inscribed circle of 0.5 inches. With four available cutting edges and an FG chip breaker geometry, this insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes on demanding workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible toolholders using a clamp-style holding method.
This insert is engineered for primary use on stainless steel, super-alloys, and titanium workpieces, making it well-suited for aerospace, medical, and industrial machining applications where edge toughness and coating durability are critical. The FG chip breaker geometry promotes consistent chip control at moderate feed rates and shallow depths of cut. The negative rake and M-tolerance classification ensure dimensional consistency across production runs. CNC machinists in job shops, aerospace facilities, and precision manufacturing environments will find this insert applicable for both production turning and high-mix low-volume work.
Designed for use in standard DNMG-style clamp toolholders accepting a 431 insert size with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle. ANSI code DNMG431FGTT5080; ISO code DNMG150404FG TT5080.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamp to avoid edge chipping or insert rocking. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidelines for clamp torque and inspect the pocket and shim for wear or debris before each insert change.
