The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5523028 is a CCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Designated grade TT5080 with an AlTiN and Titanium Nitride PVD coating, this insert is engineered for cutting stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium - materials that demand high heat resistance and edge toughness. The 80-degree diamond shape provides a strong cutting geometry, and the positive rake FG chip breaker promotes controlled chip evacuation during finishing and light roughing passes. The 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 0.016-inch corner radius make it suitable for moderate-depth profiling and contouring work. Installed by machinists and CNC operators using a screw-clamping tool holder.
This insert is applied in turning operations targeting difficult-to-machine workpiece materials including stainless steel (ISO M), superalloys, and titanium (ISO S). The CCMT32.51FG geometry and FG chip breaker are suited for finishing and semi-finishing cuts where chip control and surface finish consistency are priorities. The screw-held mounting method is compatible with standard CCMT-style tool holders. The neutral hand orientation supports use in a range of turning configurations without requiring a dedicated left- or right-hand holder.
Designed for use in standard CCMT-style screw-clamp turning tool holders. ISO code CCMT09T304FG TT5080. Primary workpiece material codes M (stainless steel) and S (superalloy and titanium). Compatible with CCMT insert size code 32.51 holders.
Installation is performed by machinists using the screw-clamp method - ensure the tool holder pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Torque the clamping screw to the tool holder manufacturer specification. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.059 inches for this insert geometry.
