The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5522837 is a CCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal on CNC and manual lathes. Coated with AlTiN and TiN via a PVD process, this insert carries the manufacturer grade TT9080 and is engineered for demanding cutting applications involving stainless steel, carbon and alloy steel, and super-alloys including titanium. The 80-degree diamond insert shape (Insert Shape Code C) provides a strong cutting edge geometry, while the positive rake and PC chip breaker work together to manage chip flow and reduce cutting forces. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 0.016-inch corner radius, this insert suits medium finishing and light roughing operations.
This insert is intended for professional machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production machining, aerospace, and general metalworking environments. It is a neutral-hand insert, making it usable in a range of toolholders without orientation restrictions. The PC chip breaker geometry is particularly suited for interrupted cuts and continuous turning of stainless steel and difficult-to-machine super-alloys and titanium. ANSI code CCMT32.51PC TT9080 and ISO code CCMT09T304PC TT9080 allow cross-referencing to compatible toolholder systems. Screw-on insert holding keeps the insert securely seated during aggressive cuts.
Designed for use in CCMT-style screw-on toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert. ANSI code CCMT32.51PC TT9080 and ISO code CCMT09T304PC TT9080 apply. Conforms to ISO standards. Verify toolholder pocket dimensions and clearance code C before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the screw-on clamp to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket for damage or debris before seating a new insert, and confirm proper overhang and depth-of-cut settings before resuming cutting operations.
