The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5520886 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCGT series, designed for precision external turning operations. Coated with TiCN via a PVD process, this insert carries the TT9020 manufacturer grade and features a positive rake geometry with an 80-degree diamond shape. The neutral hand orientation and SA chip breaker make it well suited for finishing and light roughing passes on ferrous materials. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.100 inches, this insert delivers controlled chip formation and surface finish on demanding workpiece materials.
This insert is intended for use on CNC lathes and turning centers in both production and job-shop environments. Its primary workpiece materials are stainless steel and steel, matching ISO material codes M and P. The CCGT style and screw-holding method make it compatible with standard CCGT-style toolholders commonly used in light to medium turning applications. The SA chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts where tight tolerances and smooth surface finishes are required. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in aerospace, medical, and general machining environments are the typical end users of this insert.
Designed for use in CCGT-style screw-on toolholders configured for 3/8-inch inscribed circle diamond inserts. Compatible with turning applications on stainless steel and steel workpieces per ISO material codes M and P.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification - do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
