The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5519356 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision single-point turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This VNGG-style insert features a 35-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.004-inch corner radius. The K10 uncoated carbide grade delivers consistent performance on cast iron, super-alloys, titanium, and non-ferrous metals. With four cutting edges and an ML chip breaker geometry, this insert provides controlled chip flow and repeatable surface finishes in demanding production environments. Installation is performed by machinists and CNC operators working to close tolerances.
This insert is suited for finish and light roughing turning applications where tight dimensional control is required. The ML chip breaker geometry is optimized for low feed rates and shallow depths of cut, making it appropriate for finishing passes on cast iron components and non-ferrous materials such as aluminum and copper alloys. It is also rated for super-alloys and titanium where uncoated carbide grades are preferred to maintain cutting edge sharpness. The VNGG insert style seats in a clamp-style toolholder and is used across a range of production turning and job shop environments requiring consistent insert indexing.
Designed for use in clamp-style VNGG toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 35-degree diamond insert. ANSI code VNGG330MLK10; ISO code VNGG160401ML K10. Compatible with primary workpiece materials coded K (cast iron), N (non-ferrous metals), and S (super-alloys and titanium).
Installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and spindle fully stopped before any insert change. Use the appropriate clamp screw torque per the toolholder manufacturer's specification and ensure the insert seats fully against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable machine guarding standards during all tooling changes.
