The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5140234 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for high-performance drilling applications in modern machining environments. Manufactured to the SCLT-N-PH series specification, this insert features grade IN2005 with a PVD coating process for enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability. The square SCLT geometry provides a 90-degree included angle and four usable cutting edges, making it an efficient choice for production drilling. With a 0.2-inch inscribed circle, 0.2-inch length and width, and a 0.093-inch thickness, this insert is engineered for precision fitment in compatible indexable drill bodies. A 0.015-inch corner radius reduces edge chipping and promotes clean entry. It is installed by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians in shop and production environments.
This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering material grade codes K, M, P, and S. That broad classification makes it suitable for machining carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous alloys depending on cutting parameters. The PH chipbreaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation in through-hole and blind-hole drilling. The neutral cutting direction suits standard right-hand drill body configurations. This insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order, making it appropriate for restocking production tooling inventories.
Designed for use in SCLT-N-PH series indexable drill bodies accepting SCLT05 insert size code inserts. Confirm pocket geometry, screw size, and seating requirements with the drill body manufacturer before installation.
Insert replacement is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before accessing the drill body pocket. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the drill body manufacturer to seat and torque the clamping screw - do not overtighten or use impact tools on insert screws. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping surfaces for debris or damage before indexing to a fresh cutting edge.
