The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5140192 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable drilling applications across a wide range of workpiece materials. Manufactured to the SHLT06PH geometry in grade IN2005, this insert features a square shape with a 90-degree included angle, a 0.236-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.016-inch corner radius. The PVD coating process delivers a tough, wear-resistant surface finish suited for demanding cutting conditions. With four usable cutting edges per insert, it offers efficient cost-per-edge performance for production drilling environments. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary installers of this insert type.
This insert is designed for universal material compatibility, rated for use on workpiece material codes K, M, P, and S - covering cast iron, stainless steel, steel, and high-temperature alloys. It fits into SHLT-N-PH series indexable drill bodies and is appropriate for both horizontal and vertical machining center applications. The neutral cutting direction suits a wide variety of drilling setups without directional restriction. It is well-suited for production shops running mixed-material jobs where a single insert grade needs to perform across multiple workpiece types.
Designed for use with SHLT-N-PH series indexable drill bodies accepting SHLT 06 insert size. Compatible with workpiece material codes K, M, P, and S per the supplier-stated universal material grade designation.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician following the drill body manufacturer's torque specifications for the clamping screw. Ensure the drill body pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips or debris before indexing or replacing inserts. Machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before any insert change. Do not mix insert grades or geometries within the same drill body unless confirmed compatible by the tooling manufacturer.
