The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5120157 is a replaceable carbide drill tip engineered for precision drilling in demanding materials. Manufactured to TMA series specifications under ISO number TMA1560R01 IN2505, this tip features a 16.00 mm cutting diameter and a 140-degree point angle suited for clean entry and accurate hole starts. The solid carbide construction carries a TiAlN/TiN PVD coating applied through a physical vapor deposition process. Grade IN2505 targets stainless steel and other difficult-to-machine workpiece materials. Coolant-through capability channels fluid directly to the cutting edge, supporting chip evacuation and heat management during deep-hole operations. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians install and replace these tips in compatible modular drill bodies.
This replaceable drill tip is designed for use in TMA-series modular drill holders. Primary workpiece material is stainless steel, classified under ISO material group M15 and M35, which covers austenitic and duplex grades commonly found in food processing, pharmaceutical, and oil and gas fabrication environments. Typical applications include through-drilling, spot drilling, and coolant-through drilling operations on CNC machining centers and turning centers. The helical flute geometry with regular spiral promotes chip flow out of the hole during extended tool engagement.
Designed for use with TMA-series modular drill holders accepting insert seat size 15. Conforms to ANSI standards. ISO number TMA1560R01 IN2505 identifies the seat geometry and grade for direct cross-reference to compatible holder bodies.
Installation and replacement of indexable drill tips should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before removing or seating the tip. Clean the insert pocket and clamping surfaces before installing the new tip to ensure proper seating and runout control. Follow the drill body manufacturer torque guidelines for the clamping screw - do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide tip.
