The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5120124 is a replaceable drill tip designed for use in modular indexable drilling systems. Built from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN dual coating, this tip delivers consistent cutting performance in demanding materials. It measures 0.4843 inches in cutting diameter with a 140-degree point angle and features a helical, regular-spiral flute design with two flutes. The insert seat size is 12, and the tip is rated to ISO number TMA1230R01 IN2505 under manufacturer grade IN2505. Coolant-through design supports internal coolant delivery for heat management and chip evacuation during deep-hole drilling operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production environments are the primary installers.
This drill tip is engineered primarily for stainless steel applications, corresponding to material code M and material grades M15 and M35. It fits into the TMA-series modular drill body system and is suited for coolant-through drilling, spot drilling, and standard drilling operations. The compact geometry - with a functional length of 0.2020 inches and an overall projection of 0.2760 inches - makes it appropriate for high-precision drilling cycles where controlled entry and consistent hole quality are required. It conforms to ANSI standards and carries UNSPSC code 23242105.
Designed for use with TMA-series modular drill bodies accepting insert seat size 12. ISO designation is TMA1230R01 IN2505. Intended for drilling stainless steel workpieces classified under material codes M15 and M35.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool body secured before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct clamp key or torx driver specified by the drill body manufacturer to achieve proper clamp engagement - do not overtighten by hand or with improvised tools. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and aligned before running the spindle.
