The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5120119 is a solid carbide replaceable drill tip designed for indexable drilling systems operating in demanding stainless steel and high-alloy applications. Built to the TMA series standard, this tip carries a manufacturer grade of IN2505 and uses a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual-layer coating to resist heat and edge wear at elevated cutting speeds. The 12.00mm cutting diameter and 140-degree drill point angle suit through-hole and spot drilling operations where edge stability and thermal management are critical. Coolant-through capability channels fluid directly to the cutting zone, extending tool life and supporting chip evacuation in deep-feature work.
This tip is suited for machining operations on stainless steel (ISO material group M15 and M35) in production environments where replaceable-tip drill bodies are preferred over solid-shank drills. Typical applications include coolant-through drilling, spot drilling, and general drilling on CNC machining centers and turning centers. The helical, regular-spiral, two-flute geometry promotes smooth chip flow in gummy, work-hardening materials. The clamp-style insert holding method allows fast tip exchange without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing changeover time in high-volume runs.
Designed for use with TMA series indexable drill bodies accepting an 11.5mm insert seat size, conforming to ANSI standards. ISO number reference: TMA1180R01 IN2505. Compatible with primary workpiece materials in ISO group M, including stainless steel grades M15 and M35.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle locked and machine powered down before tip exchange. Ensure the insert seat is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the tip to maintain runout accuracy. Follow the drill body manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping screw. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and delivering adequate flow before resuming production cuts.
