The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5120070 is a replaceable drill tip designed for indexable drilling systems operating on steel workpieces. Manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating, this tip delivers wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. It carries a 17.00 mm cutting diameter, a 140-degree drill point angle, and a standard point type with a regular helical spiral flute configuration. Two flutes channel chips efficiently while coolant passes through the body directly to the cutting zone. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and pool trade professionals are not the target installer - this part is seated and replaced by machinists and CNC operators working with modular drill tooling systems.
This replaceable tip fits TPA-series modular drill bodies at Insert Seat Size 17 and is suited for coolant-through drilling and spot drilling applications on steel. The ISO designation is TPA1700R01 IN2505, and the manufacturer grade is IN2505 with a material grade classification of P15/P30. Functional length measures 0.2890 inches and overall projection reaches 0.3900 inches. The 7.00 mm flute length provides an effective cutting zone appropriate for plunge drilling and through-hole operations in P-code steel materials. It is clamp-held in the drill body seat during operation.
Designed for use with TPA-series modular drill bodies accepting Insert Seat Size 17. ISO number TPA1700R01 IN2505 confirms fitment to compatible INGERSOLL TPA-platform tooling. Verify seat size and clamping configuration against the drill body specification before ordering.
Tip replacement is performed by machinists or tooling technicians with the machine powered off and the spindle locked. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to release the clamp screw and remove the worn tip. Seat surfaces should be cleaned and inspected for damage before inserting the new tip. Follow shop safety procedures and applicable ANSI standards when handling carbide cutting tools.
