The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5120060 is a replaceable drill tip designed for indexable drilling systems in metal-cutting applications. Part of the TPA series, this solid carbide tip features a 0.6299-inch (16.00 mm) cutting diameter and a 140-degree point angle suited for standard drilling into steel workpieces. The PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN dual coating extends tool life under heat and abrasion. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal control at the cutting zone. Installation is tool-free compared to brazed tips, making this a fast-change insert for production environments. Licensed machinists and tooling technicians are the primary installers.
This tip is engineered for drilling and spot drilling in steel, covering material grades P15 through P30 per ISO classification. It seats in insert size 16 holders within TPA-series indexable drill bodies. Helical flute geometry with a regular spiral promotes chip flow through the 7.00 mm flute length. It meets ANSI standards and carries ISO designation TPA1600R01 IN2505. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling in structural steel, machine components, and similar P-class ferrous materials in both production and job-shop settings.
Designed for use with TPA-series indexable drill bodies accepting insert seat size 16. ISO designation TPA1600R01 IN2505 confirms fitment in compatible TPA-platform holders. Verify holder series and seat size before ordering.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine in a locked-out, zero-energy state before tip exchange. Seat the insert fully against the pocket and torque the clamp fastener according to the drill body manufacturer specifications. Inspect the insert pocket for wear or debris before seating a new tip, as a damaged pocket will affect runout and cutting performance. Follow applicable shop safety and tooling procedures for carbide insert handling.
