The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5120055 is a replaceable drill tip designed for use with compatible indexable drill bodies in metal-cutting operations. Manufactured from solid carbide and coated with TiAlN and TiN via a PVD process, this tip delivers consistent performance in steel and similar P-grade workpiece materials. It carries a 15.00 mm cutting diameter, a 140-degree drill point angle, and a standard point geometry with two helical flutes. Coolant-through capability allows cutting fluid to reach the tip directly, helping manage heat and chip evacuation during deep-hole drilling. The ISO number is TPA1550R01 IN2505, and the manufacturer grade is IN2505.
This tip is suited for drilling and spot drilling applications in ferrous materials, particularly steel classified under ISO material grade P15 and P30. It seats into size 15 insert seats on TPA-series indexable drill bodies and is appropriate for use on CNC machining centers and turning centers equipped with coolant-through tooling. Typical users include machinists and tooling technicians in production environments where repeatable hole quality and tool change efficiency are priorities. The clamp-style insert holding method provides rigid seating during operation.
Designed for use with TPA-series indexable drill bodies accepting size 15 insert seats. ISO designation TPA1550R01 IN2505 identifies the exact seat and tip geometry required for proper fit.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully powered down and locked out. Seat surfaces on the drill body should be cleaned and inspected before seating the tip to ensure full contact and accurate positioning. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver as specified by the drill body manufacturer when securing the clamp. Verify coolant passages are clear and that system pressure is within the drill body manufacturer's recommended range before running the first part.
